Congratulations to Subiaco Academy alumnus Brit McKenzie, Class of 2009, on his re-election to the Arkansas State House of Representatives for the 7th District. Now beginning his second term, Representative McKenzie serves on the House Education Committee and the House Aging, Children and Youth, Legislative, and Military Affairs Committee. During his time at Subiaco, Representative McKenzie was an officer on the Executive Student Council, received the Leadership Award for the Trojan Tennis team as a senior, and earned the Student Council Medal of Service. At Subiaco Academy, Rep. McKenzie learned the importance of serving others and developed a strong foundation of character and faith -- values that continue to guide him in his role as a public servant. A graduate of Hampden Sydney College in Virginia, Rep. McKenzie now lives in Northwest Arkansas with his wife and two sets of twins. Congratulations again on this well-deserved achievement! 🎨Earlier this week, Lisa Bell Wilson visited our Advanced Art students, sharing an insightful presentation about her father, John Bell Jr., a celebrated artist from Fort Smith, Arkansas. He is known for his paintings to be historically accurate, and for preserving Arkansas history through his work. Designated for his advocacy for the physically challenged, John Bell Jr. was commissioned to create an original piece depicting the Abbey and Academy, which now hangs on Subiaco’s campus. Ms. Wilson offered personal reflections on her father’s dedication to art, his passion for teaching, empowering others to create artistically, and his commitment to breaking barriers for people with physical challenges, including himself. 📚✨ Math in Motion with Mrs. Hoffower's Classes! ✨📚 Today, Mrs. Hoffower’s Algebra I, Pre-Algebra 7, Pre-Algebra 8, and Honors Algebra I students got up, moved around, and dove into some interactive math stations! They practiced functions in a fun, hands-on way, engaging with each other and challenging themselves through different activities. From matching inputs to outputs to exploring real-world examples, students were everywhere—problem-solving, collaborating, and bringing math concepts to life. Movement + Math = a powerful combination for learning!

10th grade retreat was a wonderful day out! Following the first significant rainfall in several weeks, this was the first retreat where the waterfalls were running.

🏆 Our cross country team clinched the 3A-4 District Championship last week, and now they’re STATE-BOUND! Both our Jr High XC team and our Trojans Sr. High team earned the distinction of District Champs! STP! Awards and medals earned were many! ON NOVEMBER 2ND, the Catholic Church celebrates All Souls Day, which falls on the same day Dia de los Muertos is celebrated in Mexico and throughout the U.S. Both honor our deceased loved ones, and at Subiaco Academy our students recognized their family members who have passed, as well as the monks of Subiaco Abbey who have gone before us. In our Religious studies courses, students had the opportunity to write the names of their deceased loved ones on notecards, which will be placed near the altar during Holy Mass for the entire month of November. In our Spanish language courses, Señora Flores taught her students about the significance of El Día de Los Muertos. Through a display in our main lobby, pan de muerto (a delicious bread), and a visit to the Subiaco Abbey cemetery here on our campus to honor the monks, our students gained a new appreciation and understanding for this day of honor and celebration. #subiacoacademy #eldiadelosmuertos

Leading by example: This weekend, our dedicated Board of Trustees gathered to chart the future of our school with a strategic planning exercise. All Saints' Day 2024 at Subiaco Academy. Our community gathered for the celebration of the Holy Mass led by our Abbot Elijah Owens, O.S.B. He reminded us what truly sets our Catholic high school apart: we are blessed with a monastery, a community of monks, a cemetery, and a numerous amount of relics of Saints who have gone before us, inspiring us on our journey. 🌟🚴‍♂️So much success this fall with our extracurricular activities! We had a great state championship race this past weekend for our NICA Cycling team. We walked away with two individual regional medals, both 🏅5th place medals earned by Max Lukas and Wyatt Cowell. The name "Halloween" comes from "All Hallow's Eve," which is the evening before All Saints' Day, November 1st. Parents Weekend at Subiaco Academy rocked with an impressive live performance by the blues band Oreo Blue! Our very own Jazz Ensemble opened for the professional band, and some of our students joined on stage for a special impromptu collaboration.
