The junior high football game scheduled for this Thursday (9/21/23) at Cutter Morning Star has been cancelled. There will be no junior high game Thursday.

Congratulations to the Junior High Quiz Bowl team on winning their first match of the season. Game one:
310 Subiaco/150 Scranton. Game two: 305 Subiaco/160 Scranton. Game one All Stars: Carson. Game two All Stars: Carson & Grayson. In order to be named All Star, a player must earn at least 50 points per game. Special thank you to the parents and students who stayed to support our Trojans!

The Fuhrmann Hall students had a great day at Lake Ludwig eating tacos and burgers, swimming, paddle boarding, and eating ice cream from La Michoacán!
The grade 7 and 8 retreat at Long Pool was a great success. In addition to the obvious recreation, we focused on Chapter 7 Humility from the Rule of Benedict.
Budding philosophers apply their critical thinking skills after they learn about the Standards of Critical Thinking.
One of my favorite activities of the year is here in AP Biology! Cell Organelle speed dating! The boys get assigned a cell organelle and make a "dating profile" with all the structures and functions of that organelle. Then we speed date so they can share their information with their peers.
This football season marks the 100th season of Subiaco football.
Abbot Elijah sent me information from a past social media post and I would like to share it with you.
This photo captures the FIRST football team of Subiaco in 1924. The team was led by Fr. Louis Deuster (1899-1978) and was originally referred to as the Subiaco 'Orangemen'. Father Louis served Subiaco for over 30 years on the faculty of our Academy and later in parish and formation work. In the 1930's he served as Principal of the Academy, and for a full generation was the personification of the school as teacher, coach, and publicist of the school. Among other subjects, he taught English, Latin, Greek, and Spanish. Typical of his enthusiasm to tackle anything for the good of the school, he became Subiaco's first football coach even though he had never seen a game. In 1968 his name was memorialized when the alumni named the newly constructed athletic complex as the "Father Louis Athletic Center."

These guys paved the way and began a legacy that continues 100 years later. I am proud to be a part of this momentous season!
The two-day Senior retreat begins at Ponca on the Buffalo National River with an opening prayer service. The fall retreat was a blending of prayer, good food, and recreation.
We had a great NICA Race 1 at Spring Hill park!
With 16 riders racing we had 1 top 5 finish, multiple top 20 finishes, 1 DNF due to mechanical issues, signs of growth, and a whole lot of fun!
We will do it all over again in Mt. Home in two week!

If you have not heard, your #2 Subiaco Academy Trojans will be hosting #1 Mountain View for the battle for the top spot in 8-Man football unsanctioned division. The junior high team will be playing their first game of the season. So come out for some great food, company, and football! ONWARD TROJANS!

It was a great first morning of fishing in our Outdoor Adventure PE class. There will be many more fish to be caught... and lost in the weeks to come!
