HAPPY EASTER~ Sunday, March 31, 2024 He is Risen! Gospel Reading: Luke 24:13-35.
My offering to God: Glory be to God for my heart burns with love for the Risen Christ!
In honor of March being National Women's month, we are proud to highlight the women who are a part of Subiaco Academy. Today we highlight the woman who knows more about the students and cares for them like a mother more than any other person on campus. Meet Barbara Wilhelm, Registered Nurse and "campus mom" extraordinaire.
She has the gift of a soft, caring voice that greets each student by name every morning as they check in at the Main building. She knows them well enough to tell by just looking if everything is alright. She is the one who provides whatever is needed for a headache, a stomachache, and even a heartache. Every student knows that without a doubt, "Nurse Barbara" will be there for them, whenever they need it.
A feeling of home and caring is present on our campus wherever she may be.
We are grateful for our devoted and very talented nurse who gives and gives, and then gives some more. We thank God for "Our" Nurse Barbara.
Meet Anthony Gehrig, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas who chose to spend his spring break experiencing a new culture and the life-changing impact good people can have around the world. He and his dad, Jason Gehrig, Subiaco Academy Class of '89, traveled to Bolivia, where Anthony was born while his parents were serving as Catholic missionaries for 7 1/2 years with Maryknoll Lay Missioners. His first time back since he was 6 years old, Anthony was able to see the hospital where he was born, and enjoyed visiting with old friends and neighbors who all remember him as a child. Anthony witnessed firsthand the transformative power of providing safe water access to those who need it. Jason is a longtime volunteer for the group WEFTA (Water Engineers for the Americas) , and the Bolivian Waterworks group Suma Jayma, who designed and built the water system. The funding by the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters of Indiana, the local municipal government, and the benefitting families, was able to provide safe water through household taps to 70 families in the Bolivian Andes. Together, Anthony and Jason attended the inauguration of this new water system for the small Bolivian village that did not have previous access to safe drinking water. Anthony was asked to address the group. His father translated to Spanish for him, as he thanked the people for being so welcoming and expressed his appreciation for the beauty of their village and celebration . This trip was a unique opportunity for Anthony that greatly impacted his perspective of the world and his appreciation for all those in it. We are proud of our Trojan brother, Anthony Gehrig. #subiacoacademy #onwardtrojans #subiacoacademyalumni

Day 45~ Subiaco Academy wishes you many blessings this Good Friday, March 29, 2024. Thank you, Jesus, for the ultimate sacrifice of Your life for our redemption. Gospel Reading: John 18:1-19:42
My offering to God: I will honor Christ's sacrifice by fasting from everything that separates me from Him.
"...We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song. " - Pope St. John Paul II

Meet the women who are instrumental members of our Academy maintenance team! Robin Schluterman and Tommy Sue Kremer know this campus inside and out, and they keep it looking great for everyone who walks through our doors. Our students interact with these ladies on a daily basis, creating relationships that last. When our alumni return to campus, many make it a priority to see these two special members of our family here on The Hill. Thank you for your dedication to Subiaco Abbey & Academy. #onwardtrojans #subiacoacademy #subiacoacademyalumni
