"Taken up into Heaven,
Mary shows us
The way to GOD
The way to HEAVEN
The way to LIFE."
-Pope St. John Paul II
For our Academy and all of our students, faculty, and administrators~
Mary, Pray for Us.

The faculty and staff are prepping for the arrival of our boarding students this weekend, followed by our day students. They began their continuing education day yesterday with a Mass, praying for their students. Fr. Cassian Elkins celebrated the Mass. Those attending were encouraged to see Christ in every student, and through the gift of self, become proof of God's never ending love for each of them. The day ended with a teacher/staff social hosted by the Development Department, where food and fellowship were enjoyed. Thank you to Charlie Kremers, our Head of Food Services, for the delicious hors d'oeuvres. Subiaco is a place like no other. Visit us at our Open House Aug. 23rd! #subiacoacademy #onwardtrojans #schoolyear2024

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE in a college prep environment. A 7:1 student-teacher ratio means increased individualized attention, tailored learning programs, and a specialized emphasis on quality education. A low student-teacher ratio has been found to lead to better test scores, higher graduation rates, and overall higher academic success. At Subiaco Academy we have 100% acceptance rate to colleges and universities throughout the U. S.
Interested in finding out more about us? We welcome you to schedule a visit, tour campus, and get to know our students and faculty.
We will host an OPEN HOUSE on August 23, 2024. Join us! Contact us at 479-934-1000 ext. 1034, or email admissions@subi.org.

Saint of the Day: Today the Church celebrates Saint Mary Magdalene.
Mary Magdalene is especially significant as, according to Mark 16:9–10 and John 20:14–17, being the first person to see the resurrected Christ.
Mary Magdalene, one of the most prominent figures in the New Testament, was a disciple of Jesus. According to the Gospel accounts, Jesus cleansed her of seven demons, and she financially aided him in Galilee. She was one of the witnesses of the Crucifixion and burial of Jesus.

Rising senior, Hudson Pruitt, represented Subiaco Academy this summer at Arkansas Boys State on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway.
Congratulations to Hudson for being elected to the City Council in his community.
During Boys State, students are mock citizens in eight counties and congressional districts, sixteen cities, and two political parties. Delegates are assigned a political party, city, and county.
Throughout the week, delegates, from the ground up, administer this mock government as if it were real: they run for office, draft and pass legislation, solve municipal challenges, and engage constituents. By the week's end, the delegates have experienced civic responsibility and engagement firsthand while making life-long memories and friends - all with the guiding principle that "Democracy Depends on Me." #BoysState #subiacoacademy #onwardtrojans

PROGRESS CONTINUES on campus:
improvements are being made for the benefit of our students, all thanks to the generosity of supporters of our Capital campaign. We appreciate the efforts of all, including our talented and hard-working maintenance department! STP!

FRUITS OF THE FAITH: Grateful to our dedicated alumni for taking time this summer to mentor and inspire current Subiaco Trojans at a recent Steubenville Youth Conference. Their involvement and strong connection to the Catholic faith is helping to shape the next generation of leaders, grounded in Christian morals and values.
Close to 5,000 Catholic youth attended this event in Springfield, Missouri, and a total of 18 Steubenville Youth Conferences took place in multiple locations all over the country this summer. The highlight of these conferences is the emphasis on Eucharistic adoration and Reconciliation.
Subiaco delivers on Faith and Brotherhood!

With excitement, we welcome Mr. Nathan Browning to Subiaco Academy this fall as an instructor of personal finance, computer applications, and civics. He will also serve as an assistant wrestling coach. Mr. Browning comes to us with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, and is currently pursuing a master's degree. After a successful high school and college wrestling career, he decided to become an educator and coach. In his career, he has helped coach 8 individual state champions along with over 20 state placers. "I am grateful and excited to become a Subiaco Trojan this year." Originally from Greenbrier, Arkansas, Mr. Browning currently lives in London, Arkansas with his wife, Heaven, and daughter, Olivia. They are eagerly awaiting their 2nd daughter’s arrival in October. He enjoys hunting with family at deer camp, and during the summer months can be found camping and fly fishing. He enjoys watching football, hockey, and college wrestling. His ultimate enjoyment, he says, comes from coaching wrestling. When asked what he is looking forward to the most, he said, "I am excited to meet all of my students and teach this upcoming year...As a wrestler, you learn to be steadfast and to persevere through problems that arise. I hope to instill that culture with my students in the classroom." "In terms of coaching, I am excited to bring out every student's raw and anticipated talent for all to witness...I hope to develop young athletes who will set the bar for their devotion to God both on and off the mat." This outlook lines up with our mission at Subiaco Academy to see Christ in each student as we guide him in his response to God, aid the development of his known and hidden talents, and foster his growth into manhood. In closing, Mr. Browning added, "My favorite verse that I carry with me is Proverbs 3:5-6. 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.'" Welcome to the Subiaco Academy family, Mr. Browning, and Onward Trojans! #subiacoacademy #onwardtrojans

BRINGING BACK THROWBACK THURSDAYS! A look at Subiaco students of the 1950s in the chemistry lab, and those of the 1930s in the band, shows how the pursuit of knowledge and enthusiasm for the arts have always been essential to education, just as they remain today. #subiacoacademy #throwbackthursdays #onwardtrojans

Today is the feast of Benedict of Nursia, saint, founder of the Benedictine order and the reason our Subiaco Academy is here today. Born in the year 480 in Italy, "...his first monasteries were established in the Anio valley outside Subiaco, Italy. Benedict's monasteries in Subiaco became centers of education for children, a tradition which would continue in the order during his lifetime and beyond." (Catholic News Agency. St. Benedict) We are grateful to benefit from one of those in that "beyond". Pray for us, St. Benedict!

We welcome Mr. Ethan Strobel as he joins Subiaco Academy this fall as a Residential Life Coordinator and an assistant athletics coach. Mr. Strobel earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas, and is a Class of 2020 Subiaco Academy alumnus. He is from Subiaco, Arkansas, and comes from a family of Subiaco alumni including his father Tom Strobel, Class of '79, uncle Dennis Strobel, Class of '74, and brothers Nick '00 , Jonas '03, and Evan '15. He is moving back to the area from Northwest Arkansas, and looks forward to "coming home". He hopes to "...be able to give back to the community and place that molded me into the man I am today, and I'm excited to receive such a great opportunity to do what I've always wanted to do." Mr. Strobel is a member of St. Benedict's parish in Subiaco, and plans to marry Sadie Stark, of Paris, Arkansas, at the Abbey Church in October 2024. Welcome home, Ethan Strobel, and Onward Trojans! #subiacoacademy #onwardtrojans
