🌟FAITH AND FOCUS🌟At Subiaco Academy, our students shine as leaders both in their faith and in their extracurricular interests-on the court, in the classroom, and beyond. Inspiring by example, they show what it means to lead with purpose and heart. One of those students is a senior from Nassau, Bahamas, Aaron Roker. Aaron is active as a tech manager in his home church in the Bahamas, and he regularly serves as a lector at our Subiaco Academy weekly student mass, and solemnity masses. At Subiaco, Aaron also is an active leader on the Senior High Varsity Basketball team, the CASA club (Cultural Awareness at Subiaco Academy), FBLA, and is an active part of the Outdoor Adventure leadership program and the yearbook staff. Also, being selected as an Academy athletic prefect, he oversees gym access during student hours, manages equipment and ensures safety. When at home, he works with family at his father's construction business. "My faith teaches me the importance of humility, integrity, and serving others, which guides my leadership both on the basketball court and in everyday life. It helps me lead with empathy, prioritize teamwork, and remain grounded in difficult situations." This heart-felt faith is evident in Aaron's calm and gentle demeanor, reflecting a quiet confidence which makes him very approachable. On Friday, December 6th, Subiaco Academy held its Advent Day of Reflection and Service. Guided by John 1:1-5, our students embodied the call to be light in the world through acts of service and kindness both locally and beyond.
Our young men not only beautified the community roadsides, but also assisted our monks with necessary tasks.
The Jazz ensemble traveled to perform for disabled veterans, the basketball team promoted goodwill at a tournament, and others joined the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis to support childhood cancer research.
Together, they all embodied the spirit of Advent by bringing hope and joy to others.
