The College Counseling Office provides personal assistance to help guide students through the college application process and enable students to identify selection factors that make universities a good match.

Mr. Eli Fuentez, the College Counselor, meets with students at each grade level to help them understand how to best prepare for their education and life beyond high school. Our primary objective is to ensure that students understand their strengths and can develop strategies to achieve their academic and professional goals.

Students can benefit from

  • Personal Meetings and Counseling
  • College Selection Workshops
  • Essay Preparation and Editing
  • Mock Interviews
  • Financial Aid Counseling
  • Personal Letters of Recommendation

The college guidance counselor takes the time to get to know each student so that she can best guide him to a good fit in higher education.

All grade levels participate in our National Test Days by taking grade-specific nationally standardized exams. Middle school students take the ACT Aspire 7/8 which are low-stakes assessments that help teachers provide the guidance students need to start preparing for high school and college. Freshmen and sophomores will take the ACT Aspire Early High School exam. The Aspire Suite of Assessments is longitudinal assessments designed to connect a student’s growth and progress from elementary grades through high school. The assessments are connected through the ACT College Readiness Benchmarks and predictive of performance on the ACT college readiness assessment. These tests are also valuable in helping Subiaco track and trend student performance and guide curriculum changes, in addition to helping families stay up to date on their students’ academic progress.

The standardized testing program at Subiaco culminates with the ACT and SAT national exams required for college admission.

In addition to coordinating campus-wide testing, the College Counseling office organizes ACT Prep courses, assists students with the SAT/ACT registration processes, arranges transportation to these tests through the Assistant Headmaster’s office, and assists with the registration and transportation for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language).
