On Friday, May 5th, 15 Subiaco students competed in the annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Competition held at the Paris High School. The event is sponsored by the Guy Fenter Educational CO-OP and brings in close to 1,000 students, grades 5th-12th, from across the area to compete in several different competitions. This year the competitions consisted of a bridge build, robotics challenge, engineering challenge, water filtration build, catapult build, wind mill build, egg buggy build, and a people powered car challenge. The boys spent several weeks prior to the competitions designing and creating their respective builds and because of their dedication did extremely well at the competition. Of the six competitions Subiaco competed in they won 1st place in five events: people powered car (Sr. High), water filtration (Jr. High), bridge building (Jr. and Sr.), and robotics (Jr.). Subiaco came in 2nd in several competitions: bridge build (Sr.), catapult (Sr.) and engineering challenge (Sr.).
