On April 12, five students and Mr. Schluterman attended a Bioinformatics workshop hosted by Dr. Coleman from the University of the Ozarks. During the morning the students attended talks on the classification of organisms, basic coding, and how to run genetic programs. During the afternoon session, the students used the information they learned during the morning sessions to assist in the classification of a set of genes for a bacterial virus. This activity was part of a larger study the university is conducting. Once the study has been published, the students will be included in the publication.
