A Little Bit About Me:
After graduating from Ouachita Baptist University in 1977, I worked for two years as a senior chemist at Flint Creek Power Plant before entering into the private business sector. In 1985 I began my teaching career. I was both teacher and basketball coach at Pleasant View, County Line, & Charleston school districts in Arkansas. While at Charleston, our senior boys basketball team went to the state semi-finals on five different occasions and the finals once. I retired in 2012 with twenty-nine years of teaching experience. My wife, Sandy, and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for forty years this fall. I had the pleasure of coaching several of my relatives including my son Zachary and daughter Rachel as well as four nephews and my son-in-law. My daughter Rachel and her husband Derek live in the Charleston community and have three sons (Gabe, Luke, and August) and a daughter Liv. Zachary and his wife Callie live in Dallas, Texas, and have triplet sons.
My wife and I are relatively new to the Catholic faith. We were received into the Catholic church in the spring of 2006 and are members of Sacred Heart Parish in Charleston. I am also a member of the Knights of Columbus. We feel that our decision to become Catholic has helped us grow spiritually and also served as a rock of refuge during troubling times.
My hobbies include archery, fishing, cooking (especially BBQ), reading westerns, and woodworking. I love to travel with my wife and have taken our 5th wheel travel trailer all the way into Canada. Our favorite tv shows include: Castle, Longmire, All Creatures Great and Small, Elementary, American Pickers, Duck Dynasty, Journey Home, the Catholicism series on EWTN, and Father Brown. My favorite movie is Last of the Mohicans.
I am very happy to be a part of this distinguished institution and have been blessed by getting to know so many wonderful people.
